Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about registering, team sizes, game formats, fees, uniforms and the Northern NSW Futsal season.
How do I register my team?
Follow the Northern NSW Futsal step-by-step membership guide to register your team. Registration information and links can be found through the registration area of the website.
How many players can be registered in a team?
You can register a maximum of 12 players in a team. Only five players—one goalkeeper and four court players—are on the court at one time.
Most teams register around eight players, allowing for three substitutes and cover when players are unavailable.
How long are the games?
Junior games: 30-minute time slots, consisting of two 13-minute halves and a three-minute half-time break.
Senior games: Two 20-minute halves with a three-minute half-time break.
How much does it cost?
Players pay a yearly $66 registration fee, which allows participation in Northern NSW Futsal competitions including Community, Supa Liga and representative programs.
Teams also pay a weekly competition fee: $63 per week for juniors and $88 per week for seniors. These costs are usually divided between team members.
The team organiser is responsible for providing the full weekly fee to the centre competition manager before the team takes the court. Spawtz can provide an automatic team payment option.
Can I register as an individual?
Individuals can register their interest through the individual expression-of-interest link in the registration area.
Most registrations are made as teams of five or more players. Northern NSW Futsal will try to place individual players into an existing team, but placement depends on available spaces or having enough individual registrations to form a new team.
Where a new team is formed from individual registrations, one person—usually a parent or another nominated organiser—will need to manage the team.
When does the season run?
The season runs from 1 September to 1 March, with a break from Christmas until mid-January. Competition dates and fixtures may vary between venues.
When will exact game times be available?
Exact fixtures cannot be generated until all teams have registered. Northern NSW Futsal nominates competition days where possible and aims to schedule younger teams in earlier time slots.
Occasionally, competition days or team allocations may need to change so a viable competition can be delivered.
Do we have to wear a uniform?
Yes. Teams should wear matching shirts with player numbers as a minimum. Centre competition managers may also offer playing strips for purchase, although options vary between centres.
Do players have to wear shin guards?
Yes. All players must wear shin guards for their safety.
Can I wear joggers?
Yes. Normal joggers or flat, non-marking shoes are acceptable. Many players choose to purchase futsal-specific or indoor shoes.
